The Webster Water Ski Collective (WWSC) is honored to announce a partnership with Team Hoyt New England to promote inclusive sports and provide adaptive water skiing experiences to individuals with disabilities.    This collaboration promises to offer unique opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in water sports alongside able-bodied athletes.

Team Hoyt New England, established in 2013, is one of 11 non profit Team Hoyt chapters approved by Dick and Rick Hoyt around the US and Canada. The Team Hoyt chapters pair these amazing athlete riders with teammates from across New England to provide opportunities for our athlete riders to race in local road races, and more. The Team Hoyt motto “Yes You Can” has become an inspiration to individuals with disabilities all over the world.

The Partnership with the Webster Water Ski Collective is a natural extension of Team Hoyt New England’s mission to provide inclusive sports to individuals with disabilities.    The partnership will provide adaptive water skiing opportunities to individuals with disabilities who might not otherwise have had the chance to participate in water sports.

The Webster Water Ski Collective has been offering adaptive water skiing experiences to individuals with disabilities since 2020.   The Collective’s mission is to make water skiing accessible to all individuals, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.     The WWSC has invested in adaptive equipment, such as specialized sit skis and special handles that can be held by people with arm amputations or other upper body injuries, to cater to a variety of disabilities.

The partnership with Team Hoyt New England is a mutually beneficial relationship that will allow both organizations to expand their reach and provide more opportunities for individuals with disabilities and will also provide a platform to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of inclusive sports for both the individuals with disabilities and the community as a whole.

“Sports are so important for increasing confidence and installing a level of independence for everyone.   Unfortunately, due to the high costs of specialized equipment it’s very hard for our disabled community to find sporting opportunities that they can participate in.  We’re hoping that by partnering with organizations, like Team Hoyt New England, we can collaborate and give these amazing athletes more opportunities to shine in sports.”  says Ryan DesRoches, director of Adaptive Skiing for Webster Water Ski Collective.

The partnership will leverage the strength of both organizations –  Team Hoyt’s expertise in adaptive equipment and support and Webster Water Ski Collective’s experience in providing adaptive water skiing experiences and provide a platform to raise awareness about the importance of inclusive sports.

The Webster Water Ski Collective and Team Hoyt New England along with the Aqua Riders of Holland Show Ski Team will be hosting a special Adaptive Water Ski Clinic on Wednesday,  June 21, 2023 on Hamilton Reservoir.    This event will be held on the same body of water that Dick and Rick Hoyt used to train for their many triathlons, and is a great spot to celebrate this new partnership.      The event will take place at the home of the Aqua Riders of Holland at 63 Mashapaug Rd in Holland, Massachusetts from 8am until 4pm.      Interested parties can go to https://WebsterWaterSki.org for more information or call Webster Water Ski Collective at (774) 495-0165.
